Work from "Type: Needs" series:

Notes about work:

When presented with artifacts from unknown origins, how does one begin to create an accurate picture from the fragments? John Richey and Bekkah Walker investigate the relationship between memory and the object. In a play with materials donated and salvaged, both artists approach the process of reconstruction in their own unique ways presenting an intriguing comparison in their contrasting methodologies. Using artifice with a minimalist approach both artists explore strategies in information storage, index, and memory.

From the carpeted landscape to the lawn ornaments to the designs found on recreational vehicles, the installation is a pastiche of our living spaces. Whether it be the office, the home, the yard, or a home on wheels, all are contributors.
